1. (a) NITI Aayog

The NITI Aayog on December 19, 2018 released ‘Strategy for New India @75’, its comprehensive national Strategy for New India which defines clear objectives for 2022-23. The Strategy was released by the Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

The NITI Aayog on December 19, 2018 released ‘Strategy for New India @75’. The Strategy document aims to further improve the policy environment in which private investors and other stakeholders can contribute their fullest towards achieving the goals set out for New India 2022 and propel India towards a USD 5 trillion economy by 2030.

Researchers from JAXA and the University of Tokyo have detected evidence of water in 17 asteroids for the first time using data from the infrared satellite AKARI. They found that water is retained in asteroids as hydrated minerals, which were produced by chemical reactions of water and anhydrous rocks that occurred inside the asteroids.

President’s rule came into force in Jammu Kashmir from the midnight of December 20, 2018, following the expiry of the six-month-long governor’s rule. President Ram Nath Kovind signed the proclamation paving the way for imposition of central rule in the state, which was placed under the Governor’s rule on June 20.

The Indian Space Research Organisation on December 19, 2018 successfully launched geostationary communication satellite GSAT-7A onboard Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle GSLV-F11. The satellite with a mission life of eight years has been built to provide communication capability to the users in Ku-band over the Indian region.
